Integrity

When one thinks of Integrity - Adherence to a code; honor comes to mind.

But again what is Integrity?

Many even those who consider themselves spiritual often overlook that integrity is the very backbone of spirituality. Without integrity you are just a babble of words without real substance- A fraud or an Elmer Gantry.

When a parent promises his/her child something and then does not deliver, he/she has shown a lack of integrity. But the same holds when a child promises his/her parent and does not carry out the promise, again there is a lack of integrity.

If you promise your girlfriend/boyfriend to do something and you don’t stand by your word, then where is your integrity?

If a co-worker promises to give something or do something, and does not show any honor behind his/her word, isn’t that showing a lack of integrity?

If your employer promises you a raise and doesn’t give you one, where is the integrity behind his/her word? But like wise on the other hand if the employee promises to work to his/her utmost and doesn’t, where is his/her integrity?

If your church preaches morality, but then hides and/or obstructs justice, where is their integrity?

If a cleric preaches God and then tells their parishioners/followers that it is their way or the highway or project fear or guilt or preach hate toward their fellow man, is there any integrity behind their words?

If a government is supposed to be a government of the people and for the people, but instead becomes a government for the select few, where then is the integrity?

If a politician promises to do something once elected and doesn’t, then where is their integrity?

But as they say a promise is a promise, so if the circumstance would occur that one could not carry out the promise, but he or she explains to the promised one that due to circumstances he/she will not be able to carry out this promise it would be the honorable thing. This action would display integrity.

If someone lies or doesn’t stand by their word, then they are displaying a lack of integrity.

So what is a promise?

A promise is your word that you would carry out what you promised.

As my father would say your honor, your shake of the hand, your word is you. With it you are everything… Without it you are nothing…

Again Integrity is everything… It is honor… It is substance… It is the very backbone of the essence of your spiritual worth…

Without integrity, all the love, and fortitude behind any positive action means nothing…

All the chants… All the Reiki circles… All the Mantras… All the prayers in church, synagogue, mosque or temple…. All the meditations… All the sweat lodges… All the positive spiritual love that you have employed mean… Zero… All your great intentions mean nothing if you haven’t displayed integrity.

So Honor your word…
Honor your action…
And finally honor your love…
Honor is everything.
Honor is your integrity.
Integrity is You.
